Interfaces that act, not just answer

2026-10-07 — Interactive answers, in-file edits and typed decisions bring AI closer to execution. The review boundary matters as much as the interface.

Interfaces that act, not just answer
The day in view

The day in view

AI interfaces are moving beyond written replies towards interactive responses, in-file editing and navigation. That shift changes what users need to review: not just the answer, but the proposed action, the permissions behind it and the resulting change. This issue follows that boundary between assistance and execution.

Claude works with Google Docs, Sheets, and Slides

Claude for Google Workspace is in public beta on all paid Claude plans, adding in-file assistance to Docs, Sheets and Slides. It can edit documents, build spreadsheet formulas and charts, and create slides using a deck's layouts. Ask before edits is the default; Accept all edits applies changes automatically. Separate beta connectors let users create and edit Google files directly from Claude.

Our takeThe work stays in the file, with review built into the editing interface.

Computer and browser use toolsets enter Claude SDKs

Computer-use and browser-use toolsets are now built into Claude's Python and TypeScript SDKs. The SDKs run the interaction loop and send clicks and keystrokes to drivers, replacing code developers previously had to write themselves. Developers supply the browser or desktop, making it simpler to connect Claude's proposed actions to an application environment.

Our takeLess integration code between Claude's next action and the interface it operates.

Sonnet 5.5 cache reads become cheaper

Claude Sonnet 5.5 cache-read pricing was halved on 7 October to $0.10 per million tokens. The reduction makes Sonnet 5.5 around 20% cheaper to run on most long-running work. Workflows that repeatedly reuse substantial context benefit from the lower read rate, including extended sessions that return to the same instructions or source material.

Our takeReusing context becomes cheaper without changing the model or workflow.
