Claude Code: 25% becomes permanent

ClaudeDevs says the current 50% increase remains until 14 September, when a permanent 25% increase begins for eligible plans.

Claude Code’s current 50% weekly-limit increase has an end point. From 14 September, ClaudeDevs says standard weekly limits will rise permanently by 25% for Pro, Max, Team and seat-based Enterprise plans.

For us, the useful distinction is simple: today’s larger buffer is temporary. The lasting change is half that size, with no published absolute quota to turn the percentages into a fixed allowance.

WHAT CHANGES

Extra headroom remains

The temporary uplift narrows into a smaller permanent baseline for the named plans.

Illustrative comparison showing that the permanent 25% increase is smaller than the temporary 50% boost while retaining extra headroom.
The permanent increase preserves extra weekly headroom, but it does not retain the full temporary 50% level.

The announcement gives us a clearer answer than a simple extension would have. ClaudeDevs is keeping additional weekly capacity in place, while resetting it from the temporary 50% level to a permanent 25% increase.

That matters when we are planning sustained Claude Code work. There is more headroom than the prior baseline, yet Anthropic has not published the absolute limit, so percentage changes are the boundary of what we can responsibly plan around.

THE CHANGEOVER

Two levels, one transition

The 50% increase holds until 14 September; the permanent 25% increase begins then.

Until 14 September, the current 50% increase remains in place. From that date, the announced permanent increase is 25%.

The percentages are sequential states, not a combined 75% increase. The current 50% level remains only until the September changeover; the new permanent level is 25%.

Eligibility is equally specific. The announcement names Pro, Max, Team and seat-based Enterprise plans. It does not establish coverage for Free, API or any other plan category.

THE RECEIPT

ClaudeDevs sets the terms

The supplier post states both the permanent increase and the temporary period that precedes it.

The wording resolves the central question without filling in the missing details. ClaudeDevs names the date, the percentage and the eligible plans, then draws a line under the existing 50% increase by saying it remains only until then.

It does not explain how many requests, tokens or hours sit behind either percentage. It also does not give pricing, regional or implementation detail. The announcement is useful precisely because it is narrow.

“Until then, the current 50% increase will be in place.”

THE LIMITS OF THE EVIDENCE

Clear on timing, quiet on quotas

The supplier statement confirms the transition, while leaving the underlying weekly allowance unspecified.

We can treat the date, percentage and named plan groups as the published facts. We cannot turn them into an absolute capacity estimate, or infer how the change will appear in a particular account.

A separate ClaudeDevs post asks us to run `claude update`, says more is coming the following week and requests `/feedback`. It gives no changelog, so there is no basis for connecting that teaser to the weekly-limit change.

A SIMPLE INDEX

The boost steps down

An illustrative index shows the transition without pretending to reveal Anthropic’s actual limits.

Illustrative weekly-capacity index showing baseline 100, a temporary 150 peak, and a permanent 125 state.
Illustrative index, not actual limits: baseline 100; temporary increase 150; permanent increase 125 from 14 September.

A simple index makes the shape of the announcement easier to hold. If the earlier baseline is 100, the temporary increase takes it to 150, while the permanent increase takes it to 125.

Those figures are an illustration of the published percentages, not a claim about actual usage units. The message remains the same: the temporary peak falls, while part of the uplift becomes durable.

Baseline

Use 100 as an illustrative starting point, not an Anthropic quota.

Temporary

The current 50% increase maps to an illustrative 150 until 14 September.

Permanent

The announced 25% increase maps to an illustrative 125 after the changeover.

PRACTICAL EFFECT

Plan for the smaller baseline

Eligible plans keep extra weekly headroom after 14 September, but at a lower level than the current boost.

Illustrative journey from temporary 50% headroom through September 14 to named eligible plans and unresolved details.
Before the changeover: temporary 50% weekly headroom. After it: permanent 25% weekly headroom for the four named plan groups.

If we are working on Pro, Max, Team or seat-based Enterprise, the practical expectation is a smaller but continuing increase in standard weekly limits after 14 September.

What remains unresolved matters too. There is no published absolute allowance, no broader eligibility list and no explanation of the separate update teaser. Treat the date and percentage as firm, and everything beyond them as unknown.

THE DURABLE SHIFT

More room, lower ceiling

The announcement converts part of a temporary allowance into a permanent, plan-limited baseline.

The headline is not a 50% boost that lasts. It is a permanent 25% increase that keeps some extra room after the temporary peak ends.

Altior analysis of the ClaudeDevs announcement

The durable value lies in predictability, not in an unexplained maximum. For the four named plan groups, ClaudeDevs has set out a transition we can factor into regular Claude Code work without claiming more capacity than the post supports.

The best next step is to test a bounded task in the environment we already use, then watch for the promised follow-up rather than inventing meaning for the update command.
